Nordlands' connected hiking routes For years Nordlands' various Hiking Associations have been working on creating a system of inter-connected hiking routes over the entire fylke or county. From Hellemobotn, north of Bodø, it is possible to join Narvik Hiking Association's network of routes and cabins, which in turn, further north again, join the Troms Association's network. To travel southward from Hellemobotn it is necessary to cross to Sweden, where a marked route and series of cabins will bring you back to Norway and the Sulitjelma Hiking Association's Sorjushytta cabin. From there it is possible to hike across a network of T-marked routes all the way south to Krukkistua cabin. At this point you can join the south bound Bjøllådalen-Tespdalen marked route to Bjøllånes, or turn east along the Raudfjelldalen valley route to Bolna. Both are long hikes. There is a primitive log cabin by the Arctic Circle on the route to Bolna, but it is not supplied with a wood stove or oher basic equipment. The Bolnastua cabin belongs to the Rana Hiking Association and is situated near the Bolna train station. From Bolna, T-marked routes extend southward to Virvasshytta cabin and other Rana Association cabins. Note: if you hike to the village of Bjøllånes you come to a hiker's deadend. The village is located on the E-6.
