In the part of Nordland county discussed below, there are three magnificent National Parks. 

Rago National Park
is located north of Fauske. Follow the E-6 and then look for the bridge Trengsel Bru. The park has two cabins. Storskoghytta cabin by Storskogvatnet lake has four beds and is unlocked. The other, Ragohytta cabin, is in the far eastern section of the park. It has two beds and is unlocked. Use of the National Parks' cabins is free.

Saltfjellet/Svartisen National Park
covers most of the central eastern Saltfellet mountain area, but also extends west beyond the Svartisen glacier to the coast. BOT has a number of cabin sites which fall within the park's boundary line. Be aware that all plant and animal life are protected in areas designated as National Parks. As mentioned above (see Maps) you are free to roam and camp where you like, but please: Leave no evidence behind you.
