Bodø Hiking Assosiation's cabins

Some of the cabins are locked, and it is necessary to obtain a copy of the DNT-"standard key" (rental fee, NOK 100,-) before setting out. The key is available from any one of the DNTs assosiated organizations. All cabins are privately owned by their respective organization and should therefore be treated with due respect. Please carefully note the rules posted in each cabin and comply. This is of the utmost importance for the safety and well being of all concerned.

In Bodø you can get the DNT standard key at Intersport in Glasshuset or at The BOT office.

All of BOT's cabins are fully equipped. However, it is essential that you bring your own food, a sleeping bag and warm clothing. It can be cold in the mountains, even in the summer. Therefore, all cabins have a wood stove (wood available on location), while some in addition have electricity for cooking and heating. Most of the cabins have 12 volt DC solar cell lighting.
Most of BOT's cabin sites have two cabins, and even if both are occupied when you arrive, you are still welcome to find yourself a place to sleep. The distance between the cabin sites -within BOT's network, and other networks- is designed such that the next cabin site can always be reached within a day. The distances vary from approximately 8 to 26 km. The number of hours required, of course, depends on weather conditions, steepness of the route, and your personal ability. Most of the distances are not difficult to cover in a day, but there are a couple of "difficult" hikes. Note that summer and winter routes may vary. It is important to study a good map and make a plan before you set out.
